DMCA Policy

CognitoA respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"), we will respond to valid notices of copyright infringement.
1. Filing a DMCA Notice
If you believe that content available on CognitoA infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice. To be valid, your notice must include the following information:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with information sufficient to permit us to locate the material (e.g., URL or specific book title and ID).
- Your contact information, including your address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
2. Where to Send DMCA Notices

3. Counter-Notification
If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification with our designated agent. A valid counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district.
4. Our Policy on Public Domain Content
CognitoA primarily hosts links and metadata for public domain works from Project Gutenberg. We do not host the actual book files. If you believe a work is incorrectly classified as public domain, please provide detailed evidence in your DMCA notice, and we will investigate promptly.
5. Repeat Infringers
We reserve the right to terminate user accounts that are repeat copyright infringers.
6. Note About False Claims
Please note that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability. We may seek damages from anyone who submits a false or bad faith DMCA notice.
